The Uttar Pradesh government has planned to open five more airports each in Azamgarh, Aligarh, Moradabad, Shravasti and Chitrakoot by next year. An international-level airport will also be ready in Jewar by the end of this year.

As the 'Pran Pratishtha Day' approaches, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that approximately 100 chartered planes are scheduled to land at the newly inaugurated Ayodhya airport on January 22. The influx of chartered flights is expected to cater to attendees participating in the 'pran pratishtha' ceremony of the Ram Temple. Chief Minister Adityanath emphasized that this event will also serve as an opportunity to assess and demonstrate the capacity and capabilities of the Ayodhya airport.

The airport's development is executed in two phases. In the initial phase, the facility can handle an annual capacity of 10 lakh (1 million) passengers. After the completion of the second phase, the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport is projected to cater to an annual passenger volume of 60 lakh (6 million). The first phase of this state-of-the-art airport was implemented at a cost exceeding ₹1,450 crore. The infrastructure development aims to enhance connectivity and facilitate increased passenger traffic in the region.

The inaugural of the first tri-weekly flights between Ahmedabad and Ayodhya took place virtually, with Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister VK Singh, and other senior officials participating in the event. The launch comes after the inauguration of Ayodhya Airport and Railway Station by Prime Minister Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on December 30th. A notable aspect of this plan is the deployment of 10,715 AI-based cameras with face recognition technology in Ayodhya's yellow zone. To further strengthen emergency response capabilities, teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed. This holistic approach aims to ensure the safety and security of residents and visitors in Ayodhya.
